How it works

Join a room. Finish. Hop. Follow the mess.

  1. Thistoo on a phone, in the Dishes room with Porto and Oslo at the sink.

    Pick what you’re doing

Dinner, a walk, a 3am ceiling. One tap and you’re in the room, with no account and no sign-up to get through first.

  2. The who’s here overlay: 71 people in Dishes, with where they are from.

See who’s in there with you

Porto is losing a fork. Eleven people in Lagos are at the sink too. No profiles, no faces. Just a city and what they’re up to.

  3. Follow the mess

When Porto leaves the sink for their laptop, go with them or stay. Either way, one chore turned into the next and you barely noticed.

The rooms

A room is just the thing you’re doing.

  • Gym
Monterrey is resting between sets. Has been for a while.

  • Reading
Helsinki has been on this page since Tuesday. Nobody is checking.
  • Can’t sleep
Perth says it’s morning there, which doesn’t help anyone.
  • Making
Tbilisi is undoing row nine. It is going to be a very short scarf.

Work

$2.99/wk
  • Coding
Lisbon is compiling. Kyoto has been on ‘one more test’ since lunch.
  • Inbox
Leeds opened Slack and immediately regretted it.
  • Staring
Busan is ‘working from home’ in the official sense.

Why it’s this quiet

You wanted company. You didn’t want a call.

Nobody can see you, hear you, or message you. When you want to say something, tap a word like oof. The whole room sees it for a second. Then it’s gone.

Your music stays yours.

Spotify stays on your phone. If you connect it, the room shows the top three songs people are on, and never whose they are. Connecting is optional.

Pocket it on a walk.

Moving rooms live on your lock screen, with nothing to tap. On a bike, reacting is turned off. Keep both hands where they are.

Questions

FAQ

What is Thistoo?

A body doubling app for whatever you’re doing right now. Pick dishes, a walk, studying or a sleepless night, and you’ll see the other people doing the same thing. There’s no talking. It’s just company.

What is body doubling?

Doing a task with someone else nearby, so starting is less sticky. You don’t have to talk. Thistoo puts you in a room for the thing you’re doing: dishes, a walk, studying, work. Other people show as a city and a silhouette. No camera, no chat. Read the full explainer.

Is this an ADHD app?

People with ADHD use body doubling a lot, and Thistoo works for that. It is not a treatment and it does not need a diagnosis. Anyone who wanted company and not a call can use it. Chores, walks and quiet rooms are free. Compare body doubling apps.

Is it a video or voice call?

No. There’s no camera and no microphone. People are silhouettes in a drawn scene, with a city for a name.

Can people message me?

No. There’s no chat, no DMs, no comments and no friends list. You can tap a one-word reaction that the room sees for a second, and that’s it.

Do I need an account?

No account, friends or phone number to join a room.

Do I have to connect Spotify?

No, it’s optional, and Thistoo never plays music. If you connect, we only store track IDs. The room shows the top three songs, with no names attached.

What if nobody else is in the room?

You’ll see “You’re first”, with who was there last and a one-tap hop to the busiest room nearby. We don’t invent people to fill it.

Can I use it on my TV?

Yes, with AirPlay or Google Cast. The TV shows the room and your phone stays the remote.

Someone’s already at the sink.
